Kids Karate Class - Seaford

Resilience For Everyday Life

Our kids karate classes are designed for children under the age of 12.

Shoto Karate is not only a great  sporting activity where your child gets fit, has fun and makes new friends, we also offer your child the opportunity to participate in a class that encourages self discipline, self confidence and enables them to build their self esteem.

Our kids martial arts classes focus on five key areas:

  1. Learning the basics ( Kihon),
  2. One step sparing ( kumite) / self defence,
  3. Kata  – detailed patterns of movements
  4. Fitness.
  5. Self awareness/confidence

Fun, Fitness and Friendships

Our students develop improved speed, strength, flexibility, balance and cardiovascular fitness. Through practice and remembering kata sequences, students learn to pay attention to detail and improve their focus skills with far reaching benefits.

Karate offers many opportunities to develop self esteem. Students are encouraged to set goals that are both realistic and achievable.

We offer outdoor training classes also which provide our students with a unique opportunity to enjoy a sense of connectedness to nature. Our students and parents love this opportunity to engage with their surroundings in this unique manner while practicing karate.

Building Strength and Humility

The colour belt grading system provides a journey with many opportunities to succeed and learn. It is motivating, builds self esteem and celebrates achievement in a humble way. Through the progress of committing, training, developing, failing and achieving students build resilience. This is desperately needed in today’s world as bullying is often driven by low self- esteem. Confident children are less likely to be bullied, and whilst karate may equip our children with techniques to defend we educate them to not misuse these acquired skills.
